Port Polska

A symbolic gateway to Poland

1/7

Port Polska is a landmark infrastructure project set to transform aviation and rail in Poland and Central Europe. Strategically located between Warsaw and Łódź, this new multimodal hub will integrate a world-class international airport with a major railway interchange, enabling journeys between all major Polish cities in under 2.5 hours.

Once complete, the airport will serve an initial annual capacity of 34 million passengers, supported by approximately 2,000 km of new high-speed rail lines and modern road networks. This will provide faster, more efficient, and more sustainable travel options for millions of people across the region. At Gleeds, we are supporting the scheme by providing cost management expertise to the architect’s team from Foster + Partners. Our involvement includes ensuring that the project is delivered in line with the design vision, while maintaining cost efficiency, value and full compliance.

Sustainability is at the core of Port Polska. The project is being developed in line with BREEAM International New Construction and Infrastructure standards and designed as ‘net-zero ready’. From day one, the hub will operate fully on renewable energy, including on-site generation. Features such as water-saving technologies, rainwater harvesting, low-emission construction practices and future-proof energy systems ensure long-term environmental responsibility.

Beyond its transport function, Port Polska is expected to generate significant economic and social value by creating jobs, attracting international investment, and easing congestion and noise in central Warsaw by relocating aviation traffic to a purpose-built site outside the city.

The new Port Polska passenger terminal is going to be nearly three times the size of Warsaw Chopin Airport’s current terminal. We have built flexibility into the design from day one: while we’re targeting an initial capacity of 34 million passengers per year, the layout allows us to scale up to 44 million if air traffic demands it at the opening date. Our project team has spent the time shaping the vision and coordinating every detail across design and cost disciplines to turn a concept of this scale into real-world infrastructure.

It’s a great honour for Gleeds to contribute to a project that not only strengthens Poland’s position on the European transport map but also reflects a forward-looking approach to infrastructure that integrates mobility, sustainability, and community benefit in one ambitious vision.
