Value management

Working in partnership with our clients and project teams, we make sure value is maximised, without compromising the intended benefits. By finding opportunities to eliminate unnecessary expenditure at every stage, we safeguard our client’s commercial interests and improve overall performance.

At Gleeds we know that value management is not simply about driving the lowest cost.

It’s an exercise that achieves cost, time and quality objectives through removing elements that don’t contribute to function or performance.

Virtually all projects have opportunities for enhancing value.

Opportunities for enhancing value

To support this, we run value engineering workshops at the start of each key phase of work, involving representatives from both design and client teams. Engaging with stakeholders, we offer the opportunity to provide input in line with their specific needs or issues.

Combining our experience with extensive benchmarking data, we analyse the requirements of the project, to define how it can achieve its essential function at the lowest possible total cost – looking at capital, operation, and maintenance over the life of the asset. We ensure that all the right questions are asked, and the core principles are tested.

Formalised procedures and techniques allow us to compare and evaluate not only initial costs, but also take into account other considerations such as, maintenance costs and energy consumption.

Identifying and targeting areas of value

Our early input facilitates the well-considered appraisal, selection and development of options, and the timely identification of alternatives without compromising the brief.

We recognise that ‘value’ means different things to different clients. From the outset, we work in partnership with our clients to understand what is most meaningful to you, and continually review this as the project develops, new trends emerge, and requirements are redefined.

Collaboration is vital – and we work closely with our clients, project teams, supply chain and contractors to identify the optimal project outcome.
