Mariusz was attracted to a career in cost management by the combination of technical detail and the chance to make a strategic impact. Keen to work with numbers, he wanted them to influence decisions – not just sit in a spreadsheet. Today, knowing that his input makes a difference to clients’ outcomes is what motivates him most.

The opportunity to be involved in major, complex projects was a big factor in Mariusz’s decision to join Gleeds. “It offers the kind of variety and responsibility that helps you grow quickly,” he says.
No two days ever look the same for Mariusz. With responsibilities spanning project investment, including quantity surveying, cost estimation, value engineering, and contract negotiations – he also leads project teams engaged on high-profile schemes.
Some days are back-to-back meetings, such as commercial reviews with clients, catch-ups with my team, or workshops with contractors. Others are all about the numbers: reviewing cost plans, checking estimates, or analysing procurement options.
Mariusz also enjoys the mix of independence and collaboration his role offers, with the opportunity to work closely with designers, engineers, project managers, and clients.
In terms of Gleeds’ core values, the one that resonates most is Professionalism with personality. He strongly believes that while technical competence and integrity are non-negotiables, the way the business works with people matters just as much.
Drawn to travel in his free time, Mariusz especially relishes places with a warm, relaxed atmosphere, and is particularly captivated by the Tuscan region of Italy. In fact, if he hadn’t moved into his current line of work, he says he’d be running a small guesthouse in a restored historic villa on the country’s western coast!
