Gleeds has partnered with Thomas Telford Limited, the publishers of NEC Contracts, to become the official Delivery Partner for NEC-approved training services in Latin America.

In its role as Delivery Partner, Gleeds will work with NEC Training to provide training services, accreditation courses, and consultancy to organisations seeking to adopt and embed the use of the NEC (New Engineering Contract) suite of contracts. This appointment marks an exciting step toward expanding the use of NEC in Peru and reinforces Gleeds’ position as a key enabler of this progress.

Peru’s construction sector has long faced prolonged disputes, cost overruns, and adversarial client–contractor relationships. NEC Contracts offer an alternative approach to contract management, one grounded in collaboration, proactive risk management, and mutual trust, encouraging all parties to work together toward shared project objectives.

We are delighted to appoint Gleeds as our official Delivery Partner for NEC Training in Latin America. Their extensive experience supporting NEC Contracts adoption in Peru, combined with their commitment to knowledge transfer and capacity building, makes them the ideal partner to help organisations across the region embed collaborative contracting practices. This partnership will play a vital role in expanding access to NEC Training throughout Latin America.

Rekha Thawrani, OBE, Global Director, NEC Contract

NEC Contracts were first introduced to Peru during the 2019 Pan American Games, where they quickly demonstrated clear benefits, including earlier dispute resolution, greater collaboration, and improved transparency in programme management. Encouraged by these results, the Peruvian Government has since expanded NEC Contracts adoption to major infrastructure programmes such as Bicentennial Schools and Peru Reconstruction.

Gleeds has played an integral role in supporting this evolution, as part of the joint ventures providing technical assistance to the Peruvian Government on these programmes. Through formal knowledge transfer and ongoing expert advice, Gleeds has helped strengthen local capability in the use of NEC Contracts.

In March 2025, Gleeds also formed part of the team responsible for the Spanish translation of the NEC4 Engineering and Construction Contract, ensuring that core principles of clarity and simplicity were preserved.

As NEC gains momentum, comprehensive training will be critical in ensuring its principles are fully understood and applied. Gleeds is proud to lead this effort, equipping organisations with the knowledge to adopt NEC with confidence.

This appointment reflects our commitment to supporting greater collaboration and efficiency in Peru’s construction sector. We are proud to partner with Thomas Telford Limited in helping organisations realise the benefits that NEC Contracts can bring to project delivery and performance.
