Gleeds has been appointed by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) to deliver its £40m Jobs and Career Services (JCS) Estates: Multi-Disciplinary Services programme.

Over the next four years, the consultancy will provide multi-disciplinary estates professional services, including project and cost management, programme advisory, design, safety advisory services and divestment activity as the DWP seeks to renovate its network of some 630 Jobcentres nationwide. Gleeds will be supported in the planning and design elements of the programme by its design delivery partner, Jacobs UK.

This consolidation will be achieved through a combination of refurbishing existing sites, acquiring and fitting out new premises and the divestment of some existing properties. An estimated 150 sites are expected to be refurbished over the course of the contract.

Gleeds has a strong track record with the DWP and we’re pleased to be continuing that relationship with this latest appointment. This ambitious programme will deliver safe, welcoming environments for jobseekers and vulnerable users across the UK, with sites carefully designed by our delivery partner Jacobs – prioritising accessibility, supporting high levels of footfall and emphasising the security of staff and visitors.”

Oliver Straw, Senior Director at Gleeds

“Our previous experience with the DWP means we recognise and understand the complexity of the JCS operation, which is why we are taking a collaborative, outcomes-focused approach to delivery. By 2030, we hope to have created a modern, resilient estate that supports its mission and ultimately improves the outlook for millions of people,” he went on to say.

Gleeds has previously worked with the DWP on initiatives including the Lifecyle Works and Business as Usual Programme, Critical Security Infrastructure Programme, Workplace Transformation Programme and, most recently, the Estates Programme Assurance Service
