Gleeds is thrilled to share the success of this year’s Global Challenge, contributing to ocean conservation as part of our commitment to positive environmental change.

Thanks to the combined efforts of our global team, Gleeds reached the 75,000kms target, enabling the ReSea Project in Indonesia to remove, recycle, and repurpose 835 kilograms of plastic waste from the ocean – the equivalent of nearly 42,000 water bottles.

Throughout October, employees from Gleeds offices worldwide participated in the challenge, tracking their physical activities through Climategames, an eco-focused app that logs progress through activities such as running, walking, cycling and rowing. Alongside achieving our distance goal of travelling the ‘Gleeds globe’, teams organised over 30 local volunteering events with environmental themes, furthering our commitment to sustainability and community impact.

Initiated in 2015, the Gleeds Global Challenge occurs biennially, bringing our people together to achieve shared goals that support the planet and society. This year’s challenge follows the success of previous efforts, such as our 2022 initiative, where Gleeds employees’ efforts helped to plant thousands of mangrove trees in Madagascar as part of a month-long steps challenge.

Our 2024 achievement highlights Gleeds’ ongoing dedication to its ESG pillars: People, Projects and Planet. By coming together across borders to reach a collective goal, we’re making strides toward a healthier planet and embodying our mission of creating a positive impact through community-led commitments.

We would like to thank every employee, volunteer, and supporter, and our partners at Climategames and the ReSea Project, for making this challenge a resounding success. Together, we’ve demonstrated the power of teamwork and determination in building a sustainable future for all.
