The Peru Reconstruction programme goes beyond building infrastructure; it’s driven by the Peruvian Government’s vision to enhance social value, sustainability and resilience for communities across Peru.
To help realise this vision, Gleeds has been working in partnership with Mace and Arup as part of the UK Delivery Team (UKDT) to provide ongoing technical assistance to the Peruvian Government.
Intelligent, life cycle design is at the heart of our approach, enabling UKDT to deliver resilient, sustainable facilities that genuinely meet the long-term needs of the communities they serve. This means placing people at the centre of every stage, ensuring each facility is used effectively to maximise the intended benefits. To support this, UKDT has facilitated the development of operation and maintenance manuals, as well as working closely with national authorities to ensure the designs set a benchmark for future public infrastructure across Peru. The benefits can now be seen across all types of infrastructure:
- In schools, we are creating modern, climate-resilient environments that enhance teaching and learning outcomes
- Developing more efficient hospital facilities that improve healthcare quality and patient care
- And flood defences that provide long-term protection for 16 million people, strengthening climate resilience in vulnerable regions.
