William is an Associate Director in Gleeds' defence team, delivering project and programme management services across the sector, supporting government organisations and industry partners on complex infrastructure programmes. Having worked on both the client and contractor side, William brings a well-rounded perspective to every project. Drawing on experience from both environments, he understands the challenges and opportunities from multiple viewpoints, enabling him to help clients deliver successful outcomes while building strong collaborative relationships.
A genuine passion for defence drew William to the sector. Alongside his civilian career, he serves as a Reserve Army Officer, giving him first-hand insight into the defence environment and a personal commitment to supporting the organisations he works with. He is motivated by making a tangible difference, delivering high-quality outcomes and solving complex problems, taking ownership of challenges and continually pushing boundaries to achieve the best possible results for clients.
Gleeds' entrepreneurial culture and commitment to innovation were key reasons for William joining the business, valuing the opportunity to work for an established global consultancy where individuals are empowered to make a meaningful impact at a local level. Gleeds' value, "innovation with agility" resonates most strongly with him, reflecting his belief in continuous improvement, accountability, and always striving to be better.
His advice for anyone joining Gleeds is simple: don't be afraid to ask questions, volunteer for opportunities or share your ideas. In his experience, curiosity and initiative are well received, often opening the door to interesting and diverse opportunities.
Outside of work, William recently became a father and enjoys leading an active lifestyle. When he is not serving as a Reserve Army Officer, he can often be found training for endurance events, having previously competed in Ironman, CrossFit and HYROX competitions. He also enjoys exploring the countryside and coastline with Rufus, his Golden Irish dog, and restoring his 18th century home. His biggest challenge these days is balancing family life with his many interests, but if you have a recommendation for his next endurance event, he would be delighted to hear it.
