Sydney Sibanda is the Head of Taxation Allowances at Gleeds. In this role, he oversees a wide range of activities, from conducting site surveys and meeting with clients to advising on contract clauses and supporting business development - no two days are the same.
Based in London office, Sydney also values the time spent with his team, discussing everything from current events to the latest trends, laughing together and bonding to create strong working relationships.
Driven by a determination to avoid failure, Sydney is committed to delivering high standards in his work. His interest in the industry was brought about by a fascination with tall buildings. When he joined Gleeds in 2011, Sydney was initially drawn to the business’ family-oriented culture and the opportunity to work closely with all members of the team regardless of level. Throughout many amazing career milestones, one of Sydney’s proudest achievements at Gleeds is his work on the Southbank project.
Sydney is particularly aligned with Gleeds' core values and its long-standing history, which he feels are well represented in the "Gleeds DNA". His advice to newcomers is to work hard, be open to new experiences and make the most of every opportunity. Sydney’s role is integral to Gleeds, where his taxation expertise and approach contributes to the success of both Gleeds and our clients.
Outside of work, Sydney prefers to steer clear of DIY, deliberately avoiding any tools at home. If he hadn’t pursued a career in taxation, he might have ventured into politics, once considering becoming an MP.
