Simon helps our clients to shape, prioritise and deliver programmes that improve healthcare environments and support better care for patients.
Healthcare is a sector where the work genuinely matters. It combines complexity, public value and long-term impact – which suits how I like to work.
As a specialist in healthcare infrastructure and capital strategy, Simon’s role sits at the point where strategy, delivery and practical problem-solving meet. A typical day might include advising on estate strategy, supporting capital planning, reviewing programme risks, and unblocking delivery issues. He also regularly contributes to thought leadership around the future of healthcare infrastructure, sustainability and decarbonisation. Simon’s greatest motivation is making a real difference through work that has a practical impact. He explains further:
In healthcare, that means helping to create places and systems that support patients, staff and communities, while also raising standards and leaving something better than I found it.
Having already experienced Gleeds as a client, Simon says that joining the business was “an easy decision. I knew the standard of work was strong, and the culture and people stood out as well”. Bringing an NHS-informed perspective into Gleeds from his previous position equips him to strengthen joined-up working across clients, consultants and contractors, as well as connect people to align outcomes.
Professionalism and integrity are the key values that Simon lives by at work. “I believe trust is earned through clarity, fairness, follow-through and high standards, and those are the qualities I try to bring to every piece of work,” he says.
The advice he would give to a new joiner arriving at Gleeds would be to be curious, be reliable, and focus on doing the basics exceptionally well – “and remember that strong relationships are built through consistency, not noise”.
