Robin Brodie Cooper, Partner at Gleeds, joined the organisation in 1986 and has made an immeasurable impact ever since. As a Partner, his focus is on promoting all of Gleeds’ services around the world, through our International Office Network.
Initially qualifying as a Quantity Surveyor, Robin’s various roles with Gleeds have taken him into a multitude of sectors and disciplines, making for a diverse and rich career experience.
A typical day for Robin is fast-paced and involves checking in on the projects and teams he leads, interacting with clients and liaising with architecture firms. He enjoys networking with clients and usually attends several business dinners per week. He is motivated by his role in running a successful business that clients and colleagues want to be associated with – and crucially, getting buildings built. His passion for the built environment has seen him take on a number of roles, including President and Honorary Treasurer of the British Council for Offices.
Out of everything, Robin’s proudest achievement has been his work on the Scalpel in the City of London, on which Gleeds provided cost management and employer’s agent services. After spending a significant proportion of his career with the organisation, Robin advises new joiners to take opportunity that comes their way during their time at Gleeds, and that a proactive and ambitious mindset can pave the way for success.
I’ve had an amazing career and have been lucky to advise some really amazing and visionary clients and helped build some iconic buildings. I’ve enjoyed working with people with positive can-do attitudes, independent thinkers and team players. With these attributes, you will go far at Gleeds!
Robin has several hobbies outside of the workplace, including entertaining friends and family, shooting, fishing, skiing, dog walking, swimming and travel. If he hadn’t become a leader in the built environment sector, Robin could envisage himself in a career path that supported the preservation of wildlife for future generations.
