Neil Rooker is a Project Director, and a key senior member of the cost management team in Gleeds’ Southampton office. In his role, Neil oversees strategic planning for the office and leads several major client accounts, including Reading Borough Council and Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service.
Combining high-level strategy with hands-on project involvement, Neil provides clients with a central point of contact to discuss ongoing and potential projects, ensuring expertise and professionalism. His work spans reviewing cost plans, preparing bids and holding client meetings, whilst managing the smooth operation of the office. Motivated by a desire to deliver the best projects possible, Neil is passionate about exploring new technologies and innovative building practices that push boundaries.
Having worked across diverse sectors, from ports and marine to fire stations and social housing, Neil relishes the opportunity to apply his knowledge in different contexts. It was this variety, along with Gleeds’ friendly atmosphere and wide-ranging opportunities, that initially drew him to the company as a graduate. Years later, he remains proud to be part of Gleeds’ environment that values professionalism with personality, keeping people at the heart of decisions.
One of Neil’s proudest achievements at Gleeds was completing the Horizon Cruise Terminal project during the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic. Outside of work, Neil enjoys spending time with his wife, son and dog on family walks, often ending with a cozy pub lunch by a fire. A passionate sports fan, he follows football, NFL, rugby, darts, golf, F1 and cricket. Neil also enjoys running and is currently training for several events. When he finds a rare moment of downtime, he relaxes with a good book, movie or TV series.
