Neil Malik is Head of Facilities Management at Gleeds. Since joining the company in 2002, he has overseen the expansion of the facilities management (FM) service offering, diversifying from pure consultancy into Asset Management, Commercial, Compliance and Operational FM Solutions.
Neil began his career at Boots The Chemists, where he spent over 20 years initially in genetic toxicology before transitioning to store development, eventually moving over to FM. Under his leadership, the Gleeds' FM team has grown significantly, expanding from a small group to a team of over 80 individuals in recent years working for clients across both private and public sectors including Defence, Health, Higher Education, Local Authorities, and Retail. Supported by two fellow directors, Neil brings extensive experience to Gleeds, focusing on business development, client retention, and internal and external promotion of the business. He serves as a leader and mentor in FM, motivating the team to overcome challenges while upholding Gleeds' core values and behaviours.
Based in Gleeds Nottingham office, Neil manages client calls, engages in industry development, nurtures relationships and explores new business opportunities. He was drawn to FM because of its dynamic nature and consistent demand for maintenance across various sectors. Among his proudest accomplishments is sustaining the FM team's momentum despite economic fluctuations and evolving industry demands. His resilience in navigating challenges has been crucial in maintaining the team's performance and enhancing Gleeds' reputation for reliability.
Neil attributes his success at Gleeds to strong client relationships and his skill in securing new business through networking and strategic partnerships. He highlights the importance of personal connections in acquiring clients and projects. With more than two decades at Gleeds, Neil emphasises the consistent support from Gleeds' senior leadership team in supporting his achievements and career path.
Outside of work, Neil enjoys a fulfilling personal life, spending quality time with his family, four children, his string of racehorses and advising his son on livestock.
