Role

Director of Data Centers, EMEA & LATAM

Location

London, United Kingdom

As Gleeds’ youngest ever Director, Kurt Looby’s motto is suitably “if you’re good enough, you’re old enough”. His warm enthusiasm for people and desire to innovate and expand has seen him quickly progress in his career, moving from an assistant quantity surveyor up to a director in a mere seven years.

His solution-focused approach is embedded into his leadership style, ensuring his 75-person team keeps ahead of the curve and matches the fast paced and challenging nature of the Data Centre sector.

Kurt is motivated by people and relationships. He’s also propelled by innovation, agility and delivering high quality service to clients.Kurt believes the way to achieve this is to create an open and flourishing work environment where individuals are able to develop their connections with people as well as their technical specialisms. The proof of this is in the securing of multiple billion-pound hyperscale projects across Europe and Latin America, where Kurt and team have helped build some of the largest data centres on the planet.

Kurt’s decision to join Gleeds wasa easy decision, since it was a place he felt he could bring real enthusiasm and growth, and simultaneously become part of a global business with a local approach. The value ‘think globally, act locally’ really resonated with Kurt as “it allies to what our Data Centres clients want – they want a consistently high service, delivered by local and specialised people”.

I knew Gleeds was right for me when I saw the opportunity to pair my knowledge and experience within the data centre sector with a pre-existing, well established global reputation.

Kurt’s overall ambition for Gleeds is to take data centres to new, unrealised heights across the globe and to support our client’s in achieving their own ambitious aspirations. Already his greatest achievement is spearheading the establishment of ‘a complete end-to-end consultancy service of data centres to our clients’ which only has room to grow and develop in the future as the need for data centres increases. Outside of work, Kurt enjoys football - as a keen West Ham fan – as well as exercise, cooking and spending time with friends and family.
