As Head of Public Sector and Advisory, Jonathan Stewart has made a significant impact on Gleeds’ business, having founded our global advisory offering and supported the successful delivery of services on multiple landmark projects.

His role focuses on developing Gleeds’ service offer within the public and private sectors, working with key clients and promoting our standing in the public sector. Within the advisory realm more specifically, Jonathan’s focus is on thinking laterally and creating solutions to client challenges, utilising specialist skillsets from within our team.

Jonathan’s career has developed beyond recognition during his journey at Gleeds. He first came into contact with the organisation through work experience, aged 16, and then was sponsored by the company to pursue his bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying. After graduating, he joined the project management team, subsequently undertaking a secondment to HM Treasury, before returning to the business and developing our consultancy offer. He was instrumental in formalising Gleeds’ advisory business, which was set up in 2008, the year in which Jonathan also became a Partner.

For Jonathan, a typical day doesn’t exist. His routine comprises catching up with clients, working with external teams, leading on bidding activity for significant frameworks and tenders, workshops on complex business cases and supporting key reports within his team.

People are the most significant motivator, and his attitude towards building relationships and supporting those around him has fuelled his career. He is also passionate about working in the public sector, adding value to communities through the development of vital services such as schools, hospitals and regeneration schemes.

Jonathan has sound advice for those considering pursuing a career with Gleeds:

You get out of your career what you put in, and at Gleeds, the world’s your limit, so make the most of opportunities to grow and develop.

Jonathan’s proudest achievement is growing and developing the public sector business to be one of the leading providers of advisory in the built environment industry. Outside of his busy role, Jonathan enjoys skiing, tennis, playing the violin, being a charity trustee, seeing friends and family and travelling.
