John Barnett is a well established and highly experienced Senior Director who leads on London’s project management services. His career first began in architecture before moving into project management, where he now has over 25 years’ experience of working on some of the capital’s biggest projects.
Having joined Gleeds in October 2024, he has great expectations of what can be achieved for the London project management team and is intending on growing and developing London’s project management offer as much as possible. With a strong eye for business development, John understands the power of building and maintaining relationships and much of his time is taken up promoting the London project management capability and other Gleeds consultancy services. Day to day, his role focuses on developing project pipeline activities and managing the rest of the team’s capabilities whilst growing internal relationships.
John revels in a dynamic and fast paced environment and says his biggest motivation is working with energetic people and taking on new challenges. Having worked in London for much of his career, John felt the diverse sectors Gleeds works in coupled with his multi-sector knowledge, is the perfect combination to ensure Gleeds’ project management becomes the go-to in London.

Professionalism with personality is the value which hooked John into joining Gleeds, as he feels it’s important to surround yourself with talented, diverse and energetic people whose proactivity breeds a culture of enthusiasm. When asked what his proudest achievement is, he says it’s too early to say, but he has high hopes for what can be achieved.
Outside of work, John enjoys walking his dog, fishing or tinkering with his Land Rover. If he hadn’t pursued a career in construction, he believes he would have been a film producer or tour guide.
