Joe Barratt is a Project Director based in London, bringing over a decade of cost management experience across the UK and United States. He joined Gleeds in 2014 as a graduate quantity surveyor in the Nottingham office, following the completion of his Master’s degree in Quantity Surveying.
Early in his career, Joe gained valuable experience in the industrial and manufacturing, and education sectors, building a strong foundation in cost planning and contract administration. In 2019, he relocated to New York, where he spent six years specialising in commercial office fit-out projects. During this time, Joe advanced to Project Director, leading teams and managing cost management delivery across high-profile developments throughout Manhattan and beyond.
Joe has a particular strength in post-contract project controls, with a focus on cost reporting, change management, and financial close-out. Known for his detailed, pragmatic approach, he plays a key role in ensuring cost certainty and accountability throughout the project lifecycle.
Now back in London, Joe brings his international perspective and client-first approach to Gleeds’ UK cost management team. He is motivated by delivering high-quality information and exceeding expectations - building the kind of trust that clients place in both him and Gleeds. He was originally drawn to the business for its independent, people-focused culture and the opportunity to grow within a company that values both professionalism and personality - values that continue to drive him today.
Outside of work, Joe is a passionate Nottingham Forest fan and enjoys keeping up with football whenever he can.
