Jaroslaw Gurda, as Head of the Kraków Office, has a complex role that involves managing the office and team, coordinating finances, and supervising all ongoing projects. His typical day begins early, and he ensures a balance between spending time with his team, interacting with other offices, and focusing on his own workload. He reviews project reports, addresses problems, and devises effective solutions.
Jaroslaw’s motivation comes from working with people. He values the opportunity to collaborate with other professionals, learning from their diverse perspectives on similar projects. Working with different offices and clients deepens his knowledge and experience, making each day a learning opportunity. His journey into the construction industry was sparked by his academic background in construction. The industry fascinated him, and his career choice felt natural. He began his career as a project management assistant at Gleeds and over time, through dedication and hard work, he ascended to his current position.
Reflecting on his time at Gleeds, he emphasises the importance of communication for newcomers:
Talk and ask about anything, don’t be afraid. It’s the fastest way to get understanding, to trust each other and grow.
Among his significant accomplishments at Gleeds, Jaroslaw is most proud of participation in completing the tallest building in Kraków. This project holds personal significance as he remembers the building’s stalled construction from his childhood. Seeing it through to completion not only marked a professional milestone but also fulfilled a personal dream.
Outside of his professional life, Jaroslaw enjoys spending time outdoors, gardening and being with his family. These activities provide him with a refreshing break from work.
