Dorothy Robertson is responsible for leading Gleeds’ business performance and growth in Scotland and Northern Ireland. With a career defined by delivering service excellence, her role involves overseeing the strategic leadership and operational management of three offices and multiple service lines across the region.
Having originally planned to study accountancy, a summer spent working in her engineer father’s office opened Dorothy’s eyes to the world of construction and the built environment. This inspired her to become a quantity surveyor instead.
Drawn to Gleeds by its strong reputation, Dorothy was particularly attracted by the scale and diversity of the projects we take on. She finds deep satisfaction in contributing to creating spaces that shape the world around us:
Buildings that support education, drive industrial growth, enable groundbreaking research, create communities and serve as foundations for human survival on this planet.
Of Gleeds’ three core values, the one that chimes most strongly with Dorothy is Excellence with humility – specifically around the service we provide to our clients. Striving to consistently exceed expectations, she ensures that every client receives the highest quality advice to support their strategic decision-making.
Equally important to Dorothy is fostering positive, supportive, and high-performing environments where her teams can thrive. She encourages people to be their true, authentic selves at work, and to take full advantage of the opportunities available.
Shortly after joining Gleeds, Dorothy was honoured with a nomination for the Woman in Construction – Lifetime Achievement Award. She says:
While it's a personal milestone, I see it as a reflection of the collective impact we make in the industry – and I'm proud to be bringing that experience and passion into my role at Gleeds.
Outside of work, Dorothy keeps active by getting to the gym at least twice a week, and taking her dog for regular walks.
