Director within the cost management team in London, Dominic Gibbs also leads Gleeds’ residential sector offering in London. With a practical approach, his involvement with some of London’s most high-profile and complex developments includes landmark schemes, such as Chelsea Barracks and Liverpool Street Station.
His day-to-day is a blend of project delivery, team leadership and business development. He works closely with clients and project teams to drive value across all stages of a scheme, while investing time in mentoring the next generation of professionals. He was drawn to Gleeds by the calibre of its projects, the strength of its company culture and the people he would be working alongside. He resonates most with Gleeds ‘excellence with humility’ value, being committed to achieving high-quality outcomes and pushing standards to ensure the team’s work stands out.
Dominic’s interest in the built environment stems from a passion for places and their potential to transform lives. He finds it incredibly satisfying to see a project reshape an area and to know he’s been a part of that change. It’s this sense of legacy that gives his work real meaning. Since becoming a director and leading the London residential sector, his proudest achievement so far, he is excited by the opportunities ahead to further grow Gleeds’ presence within such a critical market.
To anyone just starting their career, Dominic’s advice is to be open-minded, to listen and observe carefully, to read widely, even beyond your immediate area of work. Building strong professional relationships is important but not as vital as enjoying what you do.
Outside of work, Dominic is a passionate sports fan. He supports Tottenham Hotspur and enjoys cricket, rugby and swimming, competing with a local masters team. If he hadn’t pursued a career in the construction industry, Dominic says his first dream was to become a professional cricketer - although, in his words, “lack of talent had other ideas!”. He also loves live music and escaping the city to spend time in nature whenever he can.
