Darren Boyaram leads Gleeds’ cost management offering within the education sector in the London region. His role involves managing and directing cost management services for educational projects, ensuring client needs are met with both precision and professionalism.
He is motivated by a strong desire to support his colleagues and help them achieve positive outcomes, finding satisfaction in seeing his team members receive recognition and awards for their hard work and dedication. Darren finds the education sector fulfilling due to the positive impact these projects have on students, teachers and communities. He cherishes the moments when students express their gratitude for the new learning spaces, affirming the difference his work makes in enhancing educational environments.
Darren begins his day by organising his priorities and key actions, often using an email back to himself outlining his tasks - a technique he learned from a former manager. His typical day includes working with his team members on specific activities and engaging with colleagues and clients on project-related matters. He values face-to-face interactions, frequently catching up with his team and other departments to nurture general wellbeing and a supportive work environment.
He was drawn to Gleeds because of its deep roots in quantity surveying and its strong tradition in the industry. In just two years at Gleeds, Darren has achieved many accomplishments, among his proudest moments is reconnecting with a client on a major project delayed by COVID. His pivotal role in securing the financial closure of the project marked a significant milestone, and the project is now progressing as planned.
We successfully reached this milestone at the end of last year and the project is now on-site and due for completion in the next four years. It was a very proud moment as I was lucky to work alongside such supportive Gleeds colleagues and an amazing client and project team in getting this scheme to this major milestone.
In his spare time, Darren has a keen interest in sports and would have pursued a career in coaching, scouting or sports media if not for his current role. As a dedicated father of three boys, his weekends are active with them too!
