Darran Muir is a Director in Gleeds' Advisory due diligence team, where he leads a group specialising in Public Private Partnerships (PPP) and Private Finance Initiatives (PFI), in addition to project monitoring, whole life costing and ESG efforts.

With over 25 years of experience, Darran focuses on providing technical advice to funders, either within the PFI/PPP sector or traditional real estate projects. Based in Gleeds’ Glasgow office, every day is different in the world of due diligence. Whether Darran is conducting site reviews, preparing reports on variations to assess the risk to funders, or providing strategic support to projects, he is committed to delivering clear and practical advice, especially when challenges arise.

What drives Darran is a commitment to continuous improvement, always seeking to enhance Gleeds’ service offer. His interest in numbers and problem-solving led him to a career as a Quantity Surveyor, drawn to the PFI/PPP sector during a period of significant growth and opportunity in the market. After many years in smaller practices, Darran joined Gleeds as he was attracted by the opportunity to work within a dedicated and collaborative team. One of Darran’s proudest achievements at Gleeds so far is his team being shortlisted for Technical Advisor of the Year at the Partnership Awards 2024, recognising their expertise in the sector.

Darran strongly aligns with Gleeds’ core value of "excellence with humility”, believing that effective communication is key to protecting a client’s interests, ensuring that their concerns are fully addressed.

Outside of work, Darran is loves to run, regularly participating in local races from 5k to half marathons. He has also had the honour of being selected to run for the Scottish Masters Cross Country team in competitions across the UK. Additionally, he enjoys coaching his son’s football team, finding it rewarding to see the boys' enthusiasm for the sport. If he hadn’t pursued a career in due diligence, Darran imagines he might have competed in athletics at the Olympics!
