Alongside leading our data centres team in Egypt, delivering cost plans and cost services for multiple providers, Aya heads up the office’s tendering activities. As the key contact, she advises clients on the most suitable contractors for their projects and manages the necessary assessments.
Asked what brings her the greatest sense of pride, Aya states:
Being in a senior position at a young age, and creating the data centre team in Egypt, which I believe is one of the strongest teams in Gleeds.
Aya is strongly inspired by the opportunity her role brings to make an impact in the construction market – delivering successful work and being a trusted adviser in an industry that’s challenging and fast-paced.
"Knowing that clients depend on me to guide their decisions drives me to maintain high standards and continuously grow,” she explains. More recently, her motivation has also become deeply personal. “I want to be a role model for my son and show him that hard work, dedication, and integrity truly pay off." Aya believes that the construction market is the foundation of the world around us – and this is what attracted her to join the industry. She was specifically drawn to work for Gleeds by how we’ve shaped and set the standard for cost consultancy services in Egypt.
I love being part of a global organisation that is all tied together, it’s not just a company. I feel so connected to the team worldwide. It’s such a positive, encouraging environment.
If she was asked for advice by a newcomer to Gleeds, Aya would encourage them to be their best self and push their boundaries: “You are a representative of one of the strongest entities in the industry."
As well as enjoying time with her husband and little boy, Aya loves travelling, being by the beach, and cooking. In fact, if she hadn’t entered the construction industry, she would have pursued cooking as a career!
