Capitalising on opportunities to optimise cost, efficiency and sustainability across the supply chain are what motivates Ali most in his role at Gleeds. With a focus on procurement and contract management, he oversees the acquisition of goods and services and leads negotiations on supplier contracts.
It’s also my responsibility to ensure compliance with agreements and procurement policies – making certain they meet organisational needs while managing costs, risks and claims.
A typical day for Ali might encompass reviewing purchase requisitions, managing vendor relationships, and coordinating with internal teams to ensure the timely and cost-efficient delivery of goods and services. He especially enjoys achieving effective results for clients through the strong supplier partnerships his team has forged and the successful negotiations they conduct. “This results in smooth, compliant procurement operations that add value to the organisation,” he explains.
Ali was initially attracted to the construction sector by the potential to be involved in large and complex projects, allowing him to leverage his strategic sourcing, negotiation and supplier management skills. He was also excited by the exposure he would gain to advanced technologies and contract management challenges.
As for the reasons behind his decision to join Gleeds, Ali cites:

His proudest achievement here has been inaugurating Gleeds’ supply chain services in France, and helping to drive procurement and contract management for the first greenfield construction project undertaken by a leading international company.
