Riverside EpiCenter

We were at the heart of an epic project.

14 roof elevations, a 36-foot rock climbing wall, 6-lane bowling alley, recording studio, and even a professional, acoustic-rated auditorium with 600 seats, and all with energy efficient features, make this epic community centre a truly one-of-a-kind facility.

The goal of the project was to provide a vibrant, modern centre to promote community involvement and offer an alternative for individuals and families looking for entertainment and recreational opportunities close to home.

Gleeds not only managed pre-construction and construction activities, we also procured $2.3 million of furniture, fixtures and equipment (FF&E), and took part in complex lease negotiations.

Saving more than 10%

We helped Word of Faith save more than 10% of the value of the entire Furniture, Fixtures & Equipment (FF&E) package while managing to upgrade to the audio/visual system specified in the auditorium and recording studio.

We helped develop a functional floor plan for the fitness centre. We were also instrumental in lease negotiations with vendors in the food hall.

CMAA Project Achievement Awards were awarded to this state-of-the-art mixed-use project.

LEED® Silver Certified

Sustainable measures during design and construction included recycling or salvaging more than 80% of the construction waste, using low-emitting materials, repurposing and reusing material, and crushing all concrete to form the new car parks.

Water-efficient fixtures mean a 35% reduction in water use, representing 450,000 gallons of water saved annually.

Thanks to the energy-efficient designs, including: heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) and lighting systems, energy costs are reduced by 16%. The building also delivers 30% more fresh air than required by code.
