NewsPeople Places Spaces01 December 2003 As part of the next phase in our marketing strategy we are using the words: People Put simply this can be summed up as - It is people who create and use buildings, which in themselves are places of infinite variety and character, containing spaces to accommodate every type of activity, located everywhere across the world. Or simpler still - ‘Gleeds, creating places and spaces in which people live, work and play’. It is important to understand that we are using these words not as a direct description of our business, but as an umbrella phrase for the world in which we work. They represent a philosophy and attitude to our business and reflect an understanding and responsibility for our environment and cultures. It is no longer enough to regard what we do as ‘helping to construct buildings or structures’ using ‘bricks, concrete, steel, timber and glass’, we must understand that what we help to construct is ‘the environment in which people live their lives’- it affects their ‘emotions, lifestyles, habits, cultures and aspirations’. As a company our culture must embrace the rapidly changing face of global business. We must learn to adapt to the influences and demands of new technologies and to a world where the rules of business are constantly shifting and where the expectations of people are increasingly growing. This is the Gleeds’ world. |
